I have to disagree with the notion that help is just a click away. I believe that when in a DE format,
the notion that help being a click away is often, no help at all. Most
students want the face to face and immediate response. In the DE format, you might have to wait several
hours if not a day or two to get an answer. In my opinion, this
would make an individual go and find the answer themselves.
And just how do you get it off-line? The professor's hours are limited, if you're a working dult you're
not likely to be able to go anyway. So you're back to once or twice a
week at best. As soon as you pick up the phone or send an email you're online. An email is sitting their
waiting at the professor's door while you're out doing what you
have to do. It's there at their convenience. If they take too long to respond that's a failure on their
part not a failure of DE.
