Are we to assume that we are debating in a vacuum? That the opposers while actually made up of our fellow
students do not have the same knowledge or access that
we do? And thus we cannot play off of the common knowledge that we now possess? Debate tends to be a
daily aspect of life and for example within my workspace I
wouldn't spell out what my peers who also work there would obviously know as well. For example if I
were to state that I was going toan OAG, I wouldn't need to tell
them that I was attending an Operational Advisory Group meeting because OAG is the standard term within
our work environment. Is there really a difference between a
seminar and a lecturer in practice? While the dictionary definition provides two separate activities
within practical use I would be hard pressed to distinguish the two
from one another. Then again, maybe I just think too much. ;)
