13.7:-? Cynthia to Thomas' intro

In describing the conversation model of distance education, Otto Peters explains that DE attempted to reduce "the distance betweenteachers and students" by the "simulation of conversation" (Peters, 1998, p. 20).

Now, what would YOU rather have:

A simulated sunset or a real one?

The ability to see or "simulated eyesight"?

Simulated food or food you can chew, swallow, and obtain nutrients from?

A simulated personal relationship or a real one?

Why do people who "meet" online send each other photos, talk on the telephone, and arrange to meet face to face?

Because reality is better than "virtual reality."
